Biography
- Chris Purdie
- Chris Purdie was born in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1973. His fascination with light and sound and the relationships between them began at an early age and uncovered in him a great passion for art, both musical and visual. Having played in dozens of bands over the years, his love for performing was born and has flourished. His belief that art should have the same interactive, experiential qualities found in live music has affected his style of art in a profound way. Combining all these interests and elements has been a life-long endeavor, most recently being realized at Brigham Young University, where he graduated with a BFA in Sculpture in 2010. Besides working in physical media such as wood, glass and metal, he fancies himself more a sculptor of noise, experience, and community. Through this audio-visual exploration, his work examines perception and cognition as it relates to the formation of identity, all the while seeking to capture the energy found in live musical performance. Chris is currently living in Columbus, OH where he is pursuing his Masters Degree at Ohio State University.
